Tour Bus Catches Fire on I-4 in Osceola County, No Injuries Reported

Billowing smoke could be seen along the Interstate 4 corridor on Sunday, April 17, after a tour bus caught on fire in Osceola County. Emergency crews responded to put out the massive fire, and traffic was delayed for hours as the eastbound lanes were shut down near Mile Marker 58 in Kissimmee, according The Orlando Sentinel. Fortunately there was only one person, the driver, on the bus when the fire began about 11:30 a.m. and he was not injured. The cause is unknown at this time. It also started a small grass fire on the side of the road. The bus at one time was completely engulfed by flames which appeared to originate from the engine. The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) recently announced it was taking 289 unsafe buses or driver off the road after a series of surprise inspection visits between March 29 and April 6.
