blog home Community Operation Cookie 2018 – a Big Success!

Intel was gathered and analyzed; reconnaissance carried out; personnel briefed…and the crack squad of elite operatives at The Woman’s Club of South Pasadena pulled off a successful “Operation Cookie 2018!” Our team at SLS Consulting was glad to be of help to these ladies (and gentlemen) in their noble mission.

The Woman’s Club of South Pasadena (WCSP) is a nonprofit philanthropic organization. Each year, they host Operation Cookie to collect and deliver boxes of cookies to hospitalized, homeless, and special needs veterans. Recipients of cookies this year included patients in veterans’ hospitals, the Wounded Warriors Battalion at Camp Pendleton, Military Women in Need, and other groups serving veterans.

Ground zero for the operation is always the WCSP’s historic clubhouse at 1424 Fremont Ave, South Pasadena, CA 91030. The WCSP sees Operation Cookie as a small way of saying thanks to veterans for all their service and sacrifice.

Our team brought over 1,000 cookies before jumping into our shift at around 10:30 a.m. on that mild, cloudy Wednesday, May 23rd. Hundreds of the cookies were baked by Vons in South Pasadena; in addition, Bristol Farms in South Pasadena gave us another 5 dozen for the haul!

This year, all cookies were donated by the WCSP and other businesses and individuals in the community, and looked delicious. There were mounds of chocolate chips, peanut butters, snickerdoodles, sugar cookies, Oreos, Girl Scout leftovers, and much, much more! They were both homemade and store-bought, and volunteers were allowed to snack on the broken cookie bits in the kitchen. But our SLSers barely had time to nibble – the assembly line was moving fast, and the energy in the clubhouse was infectious!

We at SLS Consulting, Inc., believe in giving back to the community, and as in past years, the entire SLS staff was at Operation Cookie to help out. We had a great time as always, and we hope to see you next year!
