Happy New Year, everyone! With 2014 in the rear view mirror, we wanted to start the year out with a post about where we disappeared to over the last couple of months, where we’re going in the coming months, and what our focus is going to be in 2015.
For starters, the end of 2014 was a busy one for us. With the holidays in full swing, we were already busier than normal, but an unexpected pipe burst quickly turned our office upside down. In November, the office across the hall from us flooded (from said pipe burst), and the water seeped across the hallway and into our office space. We really had to scramble to get our desks and office equipment away from the water, and spent the better part of a week moving, moving, and moving some more. When all was said and done, we were proud to have kept up with all our client work, but had neglected our own blog and marketing efforts, which we were already a couple of weeks behind on. But why were we already a couple of weeks behind?
A month or two prior to that, we committed ourselves as sponsors at two upcoming legal conferences (blog posts with details coming this month!). With all the work we’ve been putting into preparing for the conferences, we found little other time to market ourselves – something we’ve never really had a firm handle on in years past, but something we’re definitely focusing on in 2015. Needless to say, coupling the prep work with the flooding, our plates were full and we lost sight of our own self-promotion.
Oh, did we mention that our green room and video studio was COMPLETELY submerged under water and all the carpet had to be torn out? Did we even mention our video studio in the first place?? Or, did we mention that we were already planning on building an even BIGGER video studio upstairs near our new office? Wait, did we fail to mention that we’re moving offices as well?!? That’s right! SLS Consulting is moving to a larger space in our same building, and, if not for building permit restrictions, we would have been moved in already (we’re scheduled to be fully moved in at some point during the next few weeks though).
So, let’s recap our super busy end of the year…
- We decided to become an exhibitor again and will be a part of AAJ’s Winter Convention and Avvo’s Lawyernomics 2015 Conference
- Our office flooded and we had to spend some time moving our equipment, and then moving it some more, and then moving it back again so our full staff could work in-office
- We made the decision to move to a larger space in our same building, and have been working out the logistics over the last couple of months
- Our newly finished green room became our very wet green room, which led to the expedited building of our new and improved green room upstairs near our new main office space
- Holidays, holidays, and more holidays
So, in case you missed our blog posts over the last couple of months, that’s what happened. We’re starting 2015 off right though, and will be providing our readers with even more in-depth insight into the world of attorney marketing. We’re going to start things out with a series of “Year in Review” posts in the upcoming weeks which will focus on everything from content marketing to web design, SEO to video production, and everything else in between.
With all of that being said, there’s only one thing left to say: 2015 is going to be an AMAZING year for SLS Consulting (oh, that’s another thing…we’re officially “SLS Consulting” now and it’s no longer just our DBA name).
